Hi,
We have MQ version 6 installed in AIX and MQ explorer installed in windows.
There are 2 queue-managers configured. For past few days we have encountered problems where particularly 1 queue manager is stopping frequently.
2 types of problems have been observed.
1.CHANNEL is not available. In this case the queue-manager is disconnected in MQ explorer and when we try to connect it we get error AMQ4059.
But if we run dspmq command from AIX status of queue manager shows as "Running".
2.In another case even if the queue manager is running and connected, the LISTENER status suddenly comes to "STOPPING" mode and it never changes.Seems it goes into a hanging mode.We need to restart the MQ server to resolve this issue.
These 2 problem is coming alternatively.
It seems there is some inter-relation between them although we are unable to find any connection between them yet.
Please help me to understand the root cause of the issues and suggest what a good solution would be.
Thanks in advance!! |

Why does this qmgr stop frequently? What do the error logs for this qmgr indicate?

When you looked up this error message, what did it tell you? What did you do?
But if we run dspmq command from AIX status of queue manager shows as "Running".

What do the error logs for this qmgr tell you about the listener stopping? _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Hi,
As from configuration point of view we did not change anything. The same configuration is running for last 1 year. That is why I wonder what has gone wrong suddenly.

code 2059.
ACTION:
Ensure that the queue manager is available and operational.
AMQ9999: Channel program ended abnormally.
EXPLANATION:
Channel program 'CHANNEL1' ended abnormally.
ACTION:
Look at previous error messages for channel program 'CHANNEL1' in the error
files to determine the cause of the failure.
AMQ6183: An internal WebSphere MQ error has occurred.
EXPLANATION:
An error has been detected, and the WebSphere MQ error recording routine has
been called. The failing process is process 233592.
ACTION:
Use the standard facilities supplied with your system to record the problem
identifier, and to save the generated output files.
AMQ6125: An internal WebSphere MQ error has occurred.
EXPLANATION:
An internal error has occurred with identifier 20809700. This message is
issued in association with other messages.

Other than posting these errors, what have you done to identify the cause of the problem?
Did you look up rc 2059?
In regards to An internal error has occurred with identifier 20809700, did you search for the identifier?
Did you contact IBM to open a PMR?
There are two WMQ errors folders in the filesystem. Did review both for other clues? _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Hi Bruce,
Well, seems you are under some impression that I posted my issues first-hand to this forum.Let me tell you, I have searched every possible log and fdc file in order to find some meaningful reason. Whatever I found , I have already posted in this forum only because I couldn't understand the exact root cause of those warnings/errors.
Also I created a PMR with IBM and provided the log files.
They came back to me saying from log file they were unable to find any thing significant, so they require trace file.
I have started tracing in the system and am waiting for the error to happen again.
Thanks for your help anyway.
Regards,

I meant no offense. I (we) can only know what you have done in the way of problem source identification (the root cause) if you post.
More specific details (error messages and codes from logs, first few dozen lines from FDC - with probeid, o/s version, wmq version, etc.), and what you have already done and tried, make it a bit easier for us to help you help yourself. _________________ I like deadlines.
