When i check the execution group property on the toolkit, it shows as 64 bit, but when i do a mqsibrowse it shows the ProcArchitecture as 32 bit.
I am a bit confused as to trust the toolkit or the database. |

You should state the runtime version and fixpack you are on. Are you on V6 or below? Which version are you using? Whats the point of knowing the bit-level of the EG? Once you find out this info, what will you use the info for? It cannot possibly be to help you troubleshoot a performance problem. _________________ http://leanpub.com/IIB_Tips_and_Tricks

You still did not say what you will use this info for.
For WMB 6.1, all Linux and UNIX platforms have 64 bit capability. The default execution group size is 64 bit and all mqsi commands are 64 bit. 32 bit Execution groups remain for migration purposes, but creating a new execution group defaults to 64-bit. HP Itanium, Solaris Opteron and Linux pSeries/zSeries are only 64 bit. Windows and Linux x86 remain 32 bit and z/OS remains 31 bit for V6.1.
If you do a mqsilist -a -r -d2 and see 'x86' in the Platform line, then you are likely 32-bit sized EGs. _________________ http://leanpub.com/IIB_Tips_and_Tricks

We are doing a migration from 6 to 6.1.
i did do a mqsilist with the options given by you, it did not work, invalid command options
but i did a mqsibrowse on the broker and the execution groups are showing as 32 bit in the ProcArchitecture property. |

Btw why don't you migrate to 7 instead of 6.1?

V6 went out of support earlier this year, V6.1 will follow soon. Migrating to 6.1 does not make sense, as marko pointed out. V7 is now the "old" version, as V8 will be released next month. _________________ http://leanpub.com/IIB_Tips_and_Tricks

Hi,
Sorry I didn't check from documentation, but what database you can not access from version 7 that you can from 6.1?

Well if you only use DB2 for the broker, WMB V7 does no longer need a DB...
If you can migrate by creating a new broker and redeploy you can do without db2 V9... _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

It is possible to migrate in place from WMB 6.0 to WMB 7, using DB/2 8.2
Just needs some messing about with the libpath when using WMB 7.
After migration, you can throw away DB2 of course, but doing it in-situ makes it far easier. |
