Hi ,
We have the below code running in PROD.
Code: |
THROW USER EXCEPTION CATALOG 'MyCatalog' Message 2592 VALUES (Err_Msg); |
Since MyCatalog isn't default entry, just want to know what would happen at runtime. Will Broker create a catalog entry and start updating the file ? Is there any configuration that is required? Will this impact performance? |

For Linux and UNIX systems, these messages are written to the SYSLOG facility, and your message catalog must be delivered as an XPG4 message catalog.
I see this from infocenter.
Does the application throw errors , if it is not defined? |

The creation of user defined message catalogs was once upon a time covered in the MQSI training. IMHO, using custom catalogs is not a popular as it once was.
You should read up on how to create them although iirc, the info was pretty scant.
back to your topic.
So you have deployed a flow to production without its custom message catalog? hmmm. I'm glad I'm not working at your site.
What happens? IMHO, the THROW will happen but the exceptionList might very well not be what you are expecting. _________________ WMQ User since 1999

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions. |

It's likely to be more about a missing message catalog than the error being thrown. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Apart from functional mismatch, will there be any hindrance in the overall performance of the flow? |

AFAIK the only time the message catalog comes into play is when the error is throw. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
