I'm new to MQ and we are planning to make use of MQ in our project.
We are making use of MQ 7 pub/sub set up using MQ topics

I want to know how will the subscribing applications read the messages from the MQ topic they subscribe to?

Do the publishing application need to define a message format.If yes where do we define the message format(xml or flat file) etc
