I have MA88, JDK all installed on my machine and I want to connect out
to a QMGR on another box in the network.
Besides, IP or hostname, port, and QMgr and Qname - do I need a channel set up to do the connect? If I do not have MQseries installed locally, how can I connect? Is it a certain kind of channel?
Thanks,

You do need a SVRCONN channel on the server machine where the queue manager is running. SYSTEM.DEF.SVRCONN should already be there. Then you need a listener running on this server machine.
Then your java client needs to know the server ip, the channel name, and the port the listener is listening on. The way to set these on the java client depends on whether it is base java or jms.

I do see SYSTEM.DEF.SVRCONN there - it looks like it is connected to a different IP than the QMgr I am connecting to.
The listener you mention is for the QMgr or the channel? Also, the IP I give is the QM's IP, correct? Not this different IP I see for the channel.
Are there any permissions I need set to use this channel?
Thanks,

Melissa,
What you are talking about is MQSeries Intercommunicatin. There are a bunch of discussions available on this forum. I'm sure you'll find something. Search for Remote Communication or something like that. Let me know if you have problems. |
