Has anyone else noticed that the switch workspace options in MQ Explorer has been dropped from 7.1 and above?
In 6.1 and 7 I kept my different environments in different workspaces.
Interestingly (for me anyway), I can still launch MQ explorer with a certain workspace by using the "-data" option - although doesn't seem to allow the creation of new workspaces. |

You can install a standalone copy of Eclipse 3.6 and install the MQExplorer plugins into that.
This will allow you to continue to use the full function of the Eclipse tooling without being restricted by the choices that the MQ Explorer development team has made to produce a minimal footprint install to satisfy their internal requirements.
If you plan to do anything with MQ Explorer other than use it as an MQ Explorer, this is the recommended option. |

OK - just done that.
One weird thing however, if I create a new workspace, it still has some old remote queue manager connections pre-defined. I'm trying to understand where these are coming from. I've verified that it is using the new (blank) workspace.
I always thought that the remote queue manager connection settings were stored in the workspace? |

Me too. They should be. |

OK this is odd.
As soon as I create a new workspace, the WMQ_Handles.xml file (in .metadata\.plugins\com.ibm.mq.explorer.ui\) gets automatically populated with four random remote queue managers.
I can understand that it may do this for any local queue managers, but remote ones? |

Do you have anything left over in
%user%/appdata ? _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

Thanks for the solution - this worked perfectly. I'm not sure what caused mq explorer to use this directory (I'm assuming its a default workspace location) - or why it would cause a new workspaces to copy settings from it? |
