Hello all,
I apologize if this is a dumb question, we have a dev, qa and prod environments running V6 broker on Solaris - running on "enterprise" mode. We have corresponding windows servers running the toolkit and the config managers.
Should we use the same "enterprise" mode license on the windows servers as well to run the config manager? If this is not the case, then we would be able to use this license to spin up additional broker instances. Hence my question. Thanks. |

Don't worry; the mode of operation is only applicable to the broker component.
The Config Manager does not have its own mode of operation; it works the same regardless of your license. |

Thank you mqmatt.
Does it mean we don't need a seperate license to run configmanager? We have a seperate qmanager for the configmanager on the windows servers. If configmanager does not need its own license, then how about the MQ license?
We use the windows servers (running configmanager) exclusively for broker administration and deployments. Can we use the one that comes with broker on these windows server as well? |

Call your IBM account rep, who is the only one qualified to discuss what licensing deal your individual site has. And has an SLA on a reply that we don't.
AFAIK (and I stress again that you need to speak to your account rep) a WMB license covers a single queue manager that the broker uses and a config manager to control it which runs on the same queue manager. It doesn't cover a separate queue manager on a separate server even if that queue manager is used for a broker component.
But for the 3rd time, your account rep is the one to speak to. You could easily have an enterprise license which allows you to fill the building with brokers and queue managers. The broker license could in fact also cover a queue manager used exclusively with a config manager.
Your rep will know. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
