Hello Everyone, this is my first post to this forum, I'll be starting to develop in Message Broker soon and I would like to know if there is a site where I can read basic FileInput/Output, Java Compute transformation tutorials for MB,

Yes.

In your message Broker Toolkit, there is a "Samples Gallery".

The best tutorials for beginning WMB developers are contained here:

http://www-304.ibm.com/jct03001c/services/learning/ites.wss/us/en?pageType=course_description&courseCode=WM663

Please don't attempt to develop until you have accomplished those. You will save yourself lots of headaches if you absorb the information contained there first.

And the IBM Education Assistant
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/ieduasst/v1r1m0/topic/com.ibm.iea.wmb_v7/plugin_coverpage.html

I agree that a course, a mentor at work and prior IT experience are all required for true success, unless you are particularly gifted

Ok, thanks for all the input, I am looking for something like a blog where you can see simple code and explanations. I have the redbook for v 6 Message Broker Basics but when trying to use it for MB7 some tihngs have changed.

I'll check the education assistant to see if it has examples, the samples gallery is ok though since there are no error messages in the attempts I am doing it's kinda hard to know what's going on.

WMB is not a "pick-me-up" over-the-weekend type of product. You need the training, as a non-optional prerequisite.

Its nice you want to learn the product, what do you expect to do with it? Did your company just buy it? Or, is this preparation for a consulting engagement?

I already took the training, I work for a consulting company however, when it comes to developing my own hello world flow I am having some problems, I have to do that for a consulting project that starts next week.

If you already took the training, and you cannot do a HelloWorld flow, I would ask for my money back.

Who was the instructor? What city was the training? Who was the training provider?

There was no trainer I was just given the manuals for one week and expected to complete all the exercises but it was so fast I didn't really understand it, besides my MQ Training and MQ Programming training sucked big time too.

Don't really know what's gonna happen. You see my boss thinks I am ready for the project but he's sending me to war unarmed. Worst case scenario I could be rejected from that project, you know all my training at this consulting company has been really bad so if this ends it may let me study on my own with quality results. That's how I learned java.

The actual class provides superior value than just reading the manuals.

The class will teach you why messaging is central to SOA and how WebSphere Message Broker fits into the IBM SOA strategy.

The class will teach you how to construct message flows that use ESQL, Java, and XSL transform (XSLT), and how to use databases and maps in message flows.

Did you learn this from your reading?

Throughout the course, extensive hands-on lab exercises reinforce student learning with practical experience using the skills and concepts that are discussed in the lectures. The topics covered in the hands-on labs include creating and testing message flows, message modeling, retrieving and viewing statistical information, problem determination, and error handling.

Time to start looking for a new job...

There are some videos available somewhere - maybe ibm's website, maybe youtube?

There are some redbooks and some devworks articles.

But I'd install some of the samples and deploy them, and walk through them using the debugger and just reading the flows manually and see if you can figure out what's going on.

But odds are good you're going to get thrown off the project...

I suspect the OP knows this, hence his post requesting additional learning resources.

I strongly suspect his boss knows this as well, but also knows how much the training course costs.

I'm certain the OP dreams of:

and has explained the desirablity of all this to his boss. Who's still aware of how much the training course costs, and has keeping spending down as a KPF on his bonus calculation.

It's a depressingly familiar tale to those of us forced to work in the mundane world.
