I'm very new to MQSI and still grappling with the basics. I had a question about node types. Where do I tell the MQInputNode to read the messages from a particular queue and how do I tell it read an XML message. What is this MRM and how does it work? Thanks all

Vin,

To specify the queue name from which the MQInput node will receive the msg from, u check its properties (just right-click on it and select 'properties'). In the properties window, there are lots of stuffs you can define there, including where u can specify whether the incoming message is an XML message or a fixed-length format message.

MRM (message repository manager) is something like a repository where u define your message layouts IF you are tampering with fixed length messages in your message flows. Natively, MQSI toys around with XML messages, but if you are playing around with non-XML messages (fixed-length format) then you will need to tell MQSI that the message is under MRM. (u do this by specifying the MessageDomain field in the message properties, either in an MQInput node or an ResetContentDescriptor node or even in a Compute node)

I'm sure you'll enjoy working with MQSI and at times get frustrated but it's pretty interesting IMHO
