hi..
I have installed MQ V6. on Win2K3, I'm able to see all the Queues and Queue Manager when I login as local user, but when I login as network user (a domain), I the see the status of the Queue Manager as "Running but disconnected from WebSphere MQ Explorer".
In the right pane of the Qmgr in the explorer this is what I see....
Connection Quickview:
Connection Status - Disconnected
Connection type - Local
Status Quickview:
Queue manager status - Running
Command server status - Stopped
I made sure by n/w admin, tht userid is added into domain/mqm, does command server makes this difference?, (I guess NOT)
any pointings are appreciated.
Thanks |

For remote admin you will need the command server to be running.

If you change membership of mqm group, you must either run REFRESH SECURITY or restart the queue manager. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Hello MQ_Rookie,
I have experienced exactly the same problem when i connected with Domain user to a local QMGR. mqm group membership change and Server restart didn't help.
When i connected, on the same server with the same domain user, using SVRCONN channel, everything was o.k.
Did you solve the local connection problem?
Bye,

Hi again,
Just forgot to emphasize that in my local connection case the Command server Status is "Running".
Thanks,

I am having the same issue:
In the right pane of the Qmgr in the explorer this is what I see....
Connection Quickview:
Connection Status - Disconnected
Connection type - Local
Status Quickview:
Queue manager status - Running
Command server status - Started
I am doing something wrong in order for it not to connect? |

Have you tried connecting to it from the left hand pane? |

Sorry for the lack of detail in my last post .
I installed v6 fresh on W2K Server, used "saveqmg -v6 -QMNAME -f <backup_filename>" to backup my config from my 5.3 Queue Manager, then used "runmqsc < f<backup_filename>" to restore it to new box.
At this point I can start my v6 Queue Manager, if I right click on it in the left pane it will start (green arrow, and shown running in QuickView)
Autoreconnect is setup, but can't see queues etc... in right pane and Connection status is "Disconnected" |

Remove your domain id from the mqm group on the server where you have installed MQ. There should be no local reference to your domain user id.
Worked for me once. Try it and let me know if that was your problem as well. |

Can you press right mouse button on the running Queue Manager in the left pane and select connect? If so do you then get an error message? _________________ --

Looks like this is an upgrade. You may not have all the system queues.
Did you restart the qmgr using strmqm -c ?

I have removed the Domain id, restarted with "strmqm -c" and still no joy. When I right click on the Queue Manager I don't have the option to "connect" only "Autoreconnect" which is checked. |

So what does the qmanager's log say?
Missing channel SYSTEM.ADMIN.SVRCONN ??
OR do you have messages in the DLQ with RC 2085? _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

there is one more thing i have found to work - if there is just one QM and you are facing this issue, then try creating another QM using MQ explorer. I have seen both the QMs to show up as Connected after this is done.
hope that helps. |

I have got the solution to this in my environment
I was missing a PATH entry to "\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere MQ\java\lib" and ensure "mqjbnd05 loaded:" comes up as YES in WebSphere MQ - Properties \ Configuration information \ |
