Do any one have idea about this Heart Beat Clustering?
Is it a Hardware clustering like Veritas Clustering? |

we are planning to take out veritas clustering from our environment . so when searching i found this
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/library/l-halinux/index.html
Well that does help clarify it.
The context of that article seems to make it clear that it's open source HA software (and is listed with the likes of HACMP & Veritas) so the answer to your original question:

would seem to be yes.
As to any idea about it then I've never heard of it before. I'm sure a more experienced Linux person will be along in a minute. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

@Mitra
The term "cluster" has different meanings within the computing industry.
..unless noted otherwise, cluster describes a heartbeat cluster, which is a collection of nodes and resources (such as disks and networks) that cooperate to provide high availability of services running within the cluster.
(from the link that you have provided)

There may well be heartbeats between resources in a hardware cluster but I've never heard of a 'heartbeat cluster'... _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

If you clicked through on the link provided, you would see that some enterprising person has decided that 'heartbeat' is just the *perfect* name for a piece of open source HA software. |

The term "cluster" has different meanings - some relating to hardware, some to software, some to data.
As there is no generally accepted definition of the term, the listener/reader will have no clear and concise understanding of its meaning.
The term "heartbeat" is taken from the medical profession, and is used to generally denote presence of life.
Err on the side of clarity. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

I would say, the subject line from OP is wrong ! (It would be correct in terms of hardware cluster, as link says, & I agree with mqjeff) _________________ *Life will beat you down, you need to decide to fight back or leave it. |

The subject line is how the OP initially perceives the issue. The Q&A process narrows the focus. Not wrong; just not clear. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Any subject line of any post directs to the particular infact correct direction.
By the way The term and clarity that you seeks every time is not there in Subject Line from OP (that confuses that's why we jumped in, at least I )
Its wrong, because there is no term 'Heart Beat Clustering' in MQ.
@Mitra
You can use, Imageshack site, to post your image there and use its link here.

No. The subject line content is at the sole discretion of the person who posts. It may be a concise, direct and specific, question. For newbies to MQ, often it is not.

See my comment above.
First, you are nit-picking here. "Heart beat," and "clustering" are valid MQ technical terms. Heartbeats are used in WMQ channels, and MI qmgr clusters.
The OP subject line represents a starting point for discussion. The size (width) of the subject line is limited. The OP does his/her best, I expect.
IMHO, the objective of this site is to impart knowledge and share experience.
Neither is accomplished by telling the OP that he/she is wrong. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Thank u
http://img696.imageshack.us/i/unledcm.png/
this is my scenario
in that you can see that in one part how the envi is already set up using VCS
but in other part they r tryong to make the mq clustering and get rid of VCS .
my main question is
as the messages to Cluster qmgr MQ4A are comming from MQ3 , if MQ4A fails then MQ 4b can't take the messages as they are commimg from outside the cluster (Mq 3 puts messages to Qlocal in MQ 4A) so High availability is not achieved nor even the load balanching
can anyone suggest the best way plzz[img][/img][img][/img] |
