What do you see from runmqsc? (Output from runmqsc is easier to copy/paste into this forum).

CHANNEL(SSL.ESBTNT.SVRCONN) CHLTYPE(SVRCONN)
CONNAME(removed) CURRENT
RQMNAME( ) STATUS(RUNNING)
SUBSTATE(RECEIVE) XMITQ( )

thanks

In the meantime, I searched the information center and found:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv7/v7r0/topic/com.ibm.mq.explorer.doc/e_status_viewing.htm

This might mean that "mixed" is only ever seen in the explorer, and for the reasons given on that page. I can't be sure, though.

Well It seems IBM are trying to get some error reporting finally inplace ... Shame they dont tell anyone about it :

Anyway : We had the same issue here after implementing Mutual Authentication on the channels. But once we killed the MQSeries explorer sessions of other inactive users, then the channel reverted to a RUNNING state

What are IBM doing, exactly? Presumably you found out somehow: how did you find out?

An app using the Multi Instance client feature couldl have 1 active svrconn channel session (aka TCP socket, as shown by dis chstatus on the qmgr) but there may be many Connections multiplexed on that one active channel, some of which may be in different states. This may account for MIXED status. That's my current theory anyway....

Probably correct, it would match what was said at the link I gave anyway.
