This is just a heads up to anyone who may have a z/OS queue manager that has been in service for a while. Please check your high used RBA for your logs, and if you have exceeded the 800000000000, please make plans to reset your log RBA soon. If you have exceeded F00000000000, look to do it very, very soon. See the WMQ for z/OS System Administration manual for information.

We've seen this issue with a couple of sites recently.

Thanks for the heads up. This is they type of thing that slips by and you don't realize it until its too late. We'll plan to put in some automation to trap on CSQI045I, CSQI046E and CSQI047E.

Cheers

I'm sorry - can someone give me some background on this? I've never heard of having to reset the logs for normal operation before.

Does using Shared Queues in a QSG make a difference?

no, it does not make a difference as your queuemanagers still have logs. check for the messages in the messages and codes manual. also check the system administrationm guide (csqutil / resetpage IIRC) how to reset logs.

there was also a news flash recently related to this, here is the link.
