I'm attemptin to gather some feedback on how other companies operate from a roles and responsibilities perspective as it pertains to EAI technologies (in particular WMQ and WMQSI).

To give a little juice to this thread, my idea of EAI analyst (for a lack of a better term) would be to:

1. Manage the Installation and EAI software
- maybe not do the install, someone with root authority for example may perform the actual install but an EAI analyst would outline specification and understand it.

2. Manage the system configuration for an EAI envorinment.
- see explanation for installation

3. Perform the configuration of EAI environment.
- i.e. define channels, trigger monitors, logging mechanisms etc.

4. Administer and create objects to support EAI applications.
- i.e. create queues, dead letter handles, etc.
- design an create message flows, in the case of WMQSI

5. Perform the testing of above.

6. As an EAI Admin, migrate objects and manage change in a production environment.

7. Participate in over-all application design/architecture when defining components of a project...as it pertains to EAI.

8. ???

Of course these are many hats which each EAI analyst may wear or you could have seperate roles, depending upon the size and complexity of the EAI infrastructure, for example, MQSI developer.

However what I am interested in is finding out if any mid-large companies have say an AIX administrator creating queues and queue managers etc, or is it left to an EAI specialist?

Thanks for listening to the rant.
Jason.
