Websphere App Server v7 now supports CCDT URL in the QCFs.

http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/websphere/techjournal/0901_leming/0901_leming.html

My question is how best to set the URL to locate the CCDT file.

If we use the file:// approach then we would have hundreds of CCDT files on local disks (because there is not a suitable shared disk). A right pain if we want to update the CCDT file.

If we use the ftp:// approach then we make the WAS MQ connections dependent on the FTP server being available. But easy to update the CCDT in a single location.

What have other people decided to do about this choice?

Is it enough of a pain that you could use it to install suitable shared disk?

Otherwise, i'd be tempted to put a special purpose FTP server on the dmgr box, and use that.

What about using http:// and use another web server that is running 7/24.

Yes, that's an option and keeps it in the WAS domain. We have rather too many WAS servers - virtualisation just makes them breed faster!
