Hi all,
I am about to setup a new MQ and WMB v7 environment. Does anyone have any advice please about my 2 Full REPOS Qmgrs for the cluster also being the Qmgrs my two v7 Brokers will connect to, do people see any issues with this or have any recommendations ?
Many Thanks |

Technically, it will work. I have done this.
You will find that it gives you much more flexibility if you host your Full Repositories on dedicated QMs on dedicated servers. This is because when it comes time to upgrade MQ, or if you have to apply a fix fast to solve a cluster problem, you typically want to or have to update the Full Repositories first. If nothing else is running on those QMs, you will have an easier time of it.
In extremely large clusters, the Full Repositories will have a lot of channel connections - a pair for each Partial Repository QM in that cluster. If your applications or Brokers that might also be sharing your Full Repository QMs also need a lot of channels.....
The dedicated Full Repository Queue Managers and servers do not need to be very big servers, or even highly available servers. But you do want to insure that the likelihood of both being down at the same time will be slim to none. _________________ Peter Potkay

Peter many thanks for the detailed response.
I think the issue I experianced in the past was with MQ5.3 where our Repos Qmgrs were also the primary Qmgrs used by Message Brokers, we upgraded our Qmgrs to a new maintenance version and had a major problem with our clusters I think if I remember rightly it was something to do with using PeerName checking on our channels which were secured with SSL, this had a knock on effect of corrupting the Repositorys. After this we always had our Full Repos Qmgrs as seperate Qmgrs in the cluster that were only used for this purpose.
Many Thanks |
