I currently have MQ Explorer v6.0 installed on my desktop to remotely admin many different qmgrs. All of the other qmgrs are also installed at MQ v6.0. Now I have my first MQ v7.0 qmgr installed correctly, but in MQ Explorer I no longer have the '+' sign to the left of the remote qmgr to enable me to see those channels/queues.
Does anyone have any experience with MQ Explorer v6.0 accessing qmgrs installed as v7.0? Do I need to install MQ Explorer v7.0? |

You can't make a bindings connection. You should be able to make a client connection, however.
But you're better off using MQ Explorer 7 to manage v6 qmgrs than the other way around.
Also, you're going out of support for MQ v6 at all this year. |

Is the queue manager connected correctly?
Do you have any messages in your local event log regarding authorisation? I had similar issues using WMQv7 with the WMQv7 Explorer caused by the way the queue manager was interacting with Active Directory & failing to authenticate my id (which had all the proper permissions but the queue manager couldn't tell that)

You can; I administer v6 queue managers quite happily with the v7 Explorer. I'd investigate a bit first though, as you may find it's an issue with the v7 set up rather than the Explorer. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Thanks everyone....
Yes, the qmgrs are connected correctly and have been for some time. I can hit them all via runmqsc. I'm thinking that I need to go ahead and go to the v7.0 installlation of MQExplorer to resolve this issue.
And, yes, I'm quite aware that all of my v6.0 installs are going out of support in Q3 of 2011. I will be upgrading all platforms, HOPEFULLY by end of Q3. |
