Hi,

is it possible to find out what is the real level of CSD applied on a client only unix Sun machine installed with mqseries 5.2 or 5.3?

- command pkginfo doesnt give info about the CSD if no CSD was applied since the client code was installed

- with mqseries 5.2 the code is taken from the SPac MACO but we dont know what is the CSD included in the MACO version which was installed!

some idea, thanks for help
Jack

Find the memo.ptf file. It will tell you what version your MQClient is.

For MQ Clients v5.3, I know dspmqver will work.

I wish someone at IBM would explain the logic behind naming the command dspmqver for clients and mqver on servers????

And of course, there is the command dspmq on servers.

Was someone at IBM on medication when creating this naming standard.

Regards,
Roger Lacroix

Well here goes -

mqver was shipped in 5.3 in the server component of MQ, at some point during the 5.3 lifecycle ( I think it was when the Extended Transactional Client was introduced ) we needed that capability on a client-only installation. The packaging tools ( especially on AIX ) make it somewhat dificult to move a file between components mid-release so we decided to introduce the new command dspmqver in the runtime component ( that part of the product that is common to the client and the server ). This command will be publically documented and the name conforms to the convention used for other display commands ( dspmq, dspmqcap, etc ) . [/b]

Roger,
dspmqver will not work on a windows box with a client installation !
mqver will work on windows for a server installation
For a client installation on windows you may have to take a peek at the registry to get the version + CSD.
Thanks
F.J.
