Hi,
I would like to know has anyone succeeded in setting up Webclient for Visual age (Websphere Test Environment). We use Websphere Test Environment within Visual Age for JSP and Servlets Development and Debugging. The new project will be using MQSeries workflow and Webclient. I have gone thro the Intallation documents, none of them talks about this topic.
Thanks in advance. |

Yes, they do have doc, however, it's so hard to find they may as well not even wasted the time..
Ok, Here is where to find this hidden treasure..
I could only find this documentation by downloading the web client as a support pack. Before version 3.3.0 you could only get the web client by downloading as support pack. That support pack came with much more doc than then I can find on the current WF v3.3.2 doc disk distributed by IBM. Once you download the support pack look in the <install dir>\doc\webclient dir for a file called unsuppd.html.
That's where you'll find step by step directions on how to install the webclient on Websphere or Tomcat. There is much more than just that also.

Installing and setting up the MQSeries Workflow Web Client
The following sections provide installation hints for unsupported environments. They can help you getting started, but they are not guaranteed to work. Note that most of these setups have only been tested on Windows NT. Additional or different settings may be necessary for other platforms.
BEA WebLogic V5.1
Allaire JRun V3.0
Apache Tomcat V3.1/V3.2
Inprise Application Server V4.1
Netscape/Sun/AOL iPlanet Web Server V4.1
Sun JavaServer Web Development Kit V1.0.1
HTTPS with Apache Tomcat V3.2
HTTP/1.1 Basic Authentication with Apache Tomcat V3.2
HTTP/1.1 Basic Authentication with WebSphere V3.5
HTTPS with IBM HTTP Server and Apache Tomcat V3.1
HTTPS with IBM HTTP Server and WebSphere V3.5
Apache mail server and Microsoft Outlook Express
IBM VisualAge for Java V3.5 WebSphere Test Environment

Dave:
I have the unsupported file in my <MQWF>/DOC/WebClient directory. and I did just the base V332 install, i.e did not get the WebClient ServicePack.
The one thing that DID change was there is no longer a direct link to the unsuppd.html file in the main web client doc. You have know to look for this file.
Oh well.... Who said they should try to make things easy for the customer _________________ John McDonald

huh.. That's funny.. I don't see it on my system.. Now I don't have Websphere on the Workflow server. Could it be that the webclient doc did't get installed since I didn't configure a webclient configuration on that server.
I also searched the doc cd and couldn't find it...
Thanks.. I will be hunting for it now.. :) _________________ Dave Krier

I found the document and in the process of setting up in visual age. One thing I found was it is not sufficient to just add the fmc.... jar files to the classpath. The jar files must be imported to visual age workspace. I am still not successful completely as it complains some classes missing in the workflow.client package. I guess I need to download the jar files again and see how it goes. |

I don't have websphere installed (I use TomCat) either... so I doubt that could be it. _________________ John McDonald

John
My Bad.. I did find the unsupported doc on our production server.. It seems that when we setup the HACMP configuration we moved the doc from it's normal place..
Thanks
P.S. I also had a few problems setting it up in VA, although I did eventually get it to work. Good luck..
