Hello,
let's say I have QMA and QMB. The user that connects to QMA wants to be able to write a message to a destination queue of QMB. That queue is only writable to a certain user that is password protected. Can i somehow pass that user ID and password when writing the message at QMA, so it is used to decide whether or not to write the message to the Dest queue at QMB?
Thanks. |

Hey guys, I found the answer in the form of SETAUT attrib. of the receiver channel.
However this allows an alternate user ID.
Is there any way to make that work only when a correct password is supplied (a way other than an exit).
Thanks. |

No, WMQ objects are not password-protected.
At certain MQI (or equivalent) calls, WMQ queries the o/s security product (OAM on midrange platforms) to see if the username associated with the MQI call has appropriate authorization to the object (mqput in your scenario). _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Which calls? Do you have any documentation regarding this matter? |

This matter is fully documented in the Info Center.
Try the security manual, for example. |

Examples: MQCONNect, MQOPEN, MQCLOSE, ...
You might consider doing a google search for WMQ+OAM. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.
