hi !!
am a starter with MQSeries.....i have a set up wherein the MQSeries server machine doesnot allow me to telnet. I have a client installed and i am able to send and receive messages using commands like amqcputc....
Now my problem is i am not much cognizant abt the char-set/encoding schemes of the QueueManager and Queues at server. Do we have some commands available which i can provide/introspect this information for me from the client machine. ( I am on a solaris workstation )
NOTE :: I have some queues that are remote, i mean my server in turn is a client for some other MQServers, does that effect me some way?? or i should only be concern abt putting the message on the remote queue in that queuemanager's specific encoding/char-set.
thanks

I'm not too sure what the question is here but I have found the best approach with CCSID and encoding is - forget about it, let MQ handle it. Providing the have the right CCSID configured for the sending and receiving queue manager, use MQSTR as the message format, and NEVER, NEVER send binary, then when you MQGET the message with MQGMO_CONVERT in your Get Message Options - then it works.
Of course if it doesn't, let us know! |
