Hi All,
Env
Solaris 5.9, MQ .6.0.2.1 , Weblogic - MQ based application
Our Application has 16 qmgrs on different hosts clustered with several other queue managers of up/down stream systems . Usually , we take queues out of cluster , if we need to perform any maintainence activity . Last weekend ,we found messages flowing into queues even after removing queues out of cluster . This was bit strange behaviour of MQ . No application is putting messages into Queue directly . We started getting these message other app queue managers which was evident from MQ headers. I need to stop cluster receiver channels in force mode to avoid messages inflow.Does anyone observed this kind of behaviour?. Is it somethin related to MQ 6.0.2.1 ? Do we need to move to higher fixpack ? But all these days this was working ! _________________ Ranga |

No it isn't at all, it's as documented...

Yes. This can happen for a couple of reasons, such as the queue being the only available target in the cluster and the queue manager has been suspended within the cluster, or, the messages are in-flight to a specific queue manager as the queue is being removed from the cluster, therefore dead queue, and an automated dead-letter handler puts them to the target. There are other reasons it can happen too...

No...

Yes, you are way back-level...

So what changed elsewhere in the system? _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

No significant changes in MQ set-up . There are also 15 additional destinations . if I consider that these messages sent are in-flight messages --but number messages sent are in 5 digits . That makes me bit puzzled . As MQ channel pushes messages in batches and batch size is set to 100 .
Also I observed that all these messages are comming certain queue managers (6.0.2.1) for few clusters . Later i have to log-in into the queue manager and refresh cluster so that dis qc(<qname>) does not display queues specific to queue manager in question . |

Are these queues name-listed in multiple clusters? If so, are you removing them from all clusters?

In large clusters, or where queue managers are members of multiple clusters, it can take a considerable amount of time for the information that a particular queue/queue manager has been removed/suspended from the cluster(s). _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

after removing queues out of cluster |
Please be specific. How did you remove the queue(s) from the cluster? Did you follow the instructions in the WMQ Clusters manual... that suggest that you put-disable the queue to ensure that no more messages can flow to that instance of the cluster-queue?
What type of maintenance? Did you remove the queue manager from the cluster? _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.
