I am trying to install only Message Broker Toolkit v6.1(workbench) on my Windows XP desktop.

But i get the below error

"The Install executable launcher was unable to locate its companion shared library."

Can anyone what should be done. I already have MQ v6.0.2.4 installed on my desktop

Ok, this thread is very very old but I stumbled upon the same error when installing the Rational Application Developer and cause is most probably the same.
The problem seems to be related to the path name length for the installation files. Moving them to another location with a shorter path name should resolve the issue.
