Hi All,

My sender channel is in retrying state. The Curseqno is showing as zero.
I am trying to set it to 1. But, still shwoing as 0. It is not in Indoubt. I tried resolving the channel and try to reset to 1. But, still not working. The receiver has seqno as 1. This is on AIX with MQ 6.

Please advise.

If the channel is in retry, why are you a) attempting to resolve the chanel & b) reset the sequence number? Do you actually have an error message saying that the channel is in retry because of the sequence number? Or are you just thrashing round trying various commands in the hope one will work?

If the channel is in retry, and you've been randomly resolving and resetting it, the sequence number probably is legitimately zero & can't be manually changed in the channel's current (probably inconsistent) state.

What does the sender qmgr's error log say as to why the channel is in retry mode?

Thanks a lot Vitor/fjb_saper. There was a network problem because of which the channel went to retrying state. The issue is resolved now.
Initially, i issued reset channel without any number for seqno and i was worried that that might have set the SEQNO to 0. I did not know that SEQNO can be zero also .

Thanks for the clarification.

This is so for 99% of channels in retry. In 100% of these cases there's a message in the log indicating this, and containing helpful information for your network people.
