i assume "server" is a z/OS system. No problem with that, except 5.3 is out of service. go ahead. _________________ Regards, Butcher |

Even if "server" is a non-z/OS implementation there's no issue apart from the one mentioned by my most worthy associate; that v5.3 is now nearly 2 levels out of support. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

And to provide a slightly more bit of fish for subbu -
You do not provide communication between two versions of MQ or two servers.
You need to provide communication between two queue managers.
Think of it that way, and your problem is solved. |

There is no WMQ 7.1 (yet at least), you mean 7.0.1 |

Point taken.
The fundamental concept of linking queue managers of different version still holds though. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

To aid in your quest, you will need the appropriate WMQ object definitions, like channel definitions on the queue managers at both ends (like SENDER and RECEIVER), a transmission queue (XMITQ) on the sending end, a listener on the receiving end.
This is all documented in the WMQ Intercommunications manual, and includes platform-specific examples _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.
