All,
Since the Social Network movie opened in North America this past weekend, I thought I would ask for some 'Social MQ Networking' help.
Every chance I get, I ask / beg IBM MQ people to add support for API Exits on z/OS (mainframe).
Today it hit me, we are 6 months away from the release / launch of WebSphere MQ v8.0 (or v7.1). Yup, April 1st, 2011 is only 6 months away and I have not heard any noise from IBM about supporting API Exits on z/OS.
So, to the social MQ networking help: I would like to kindly ask any and all people who use WMQ on z/OS to submit a feature request for the next release of WMQ to support API Exits on z/OS. Please include that you want the API Exit supported for Batch, CICS and IMS environments.
I am pretty sure the IBM WMQ people in Hursley are currently prioritizing the list of features that are going to be in the next release of WMQ. So, if a bunch of people request API Exit support on z/OS, the feature will definitely move up the IBM's new feature list.
I would greatly appreciate it, if you could take a few minutes and fill out the WMQ Requirements form at the following web page:

I'd thought the API exit started on zOS as the API Crossing Exit?
Did that get deprecated at some point? |

Hi,
IBM Manual wrote: |
The API-crossing exit for z/OS
An exit is a point in IBM-supplied code where you can run your own code. WebSphere MQ for z/OS provides an API-crossing exit that you can use to intercept calls to the MQI, and to monitor or modify the function of the MQI calls. This section describes how to use the API-crossing exit, and describes the sample exit program that is supplied with WebSphere MQ for z/OS.
Note:
The API-crossing exit is invoked only by the CICS adapter of WebSphere MQ for z/OS. The exit program runs in the CICS address space. |
An API-crossing exit on z/OS is a lot like a distributed API Exit but an API-crossing exit ONLY runs under CICS. A lot of MQ applications on z/OS run under Batch or IMS, so an API-crossing exit is not so useful.
