I read that CICS can be setup for webservices as a requestor or provider.
The transport method can either be HTTP or MQ.
Can someone help me understand why I would want to use MQ?
I've very new to this, but it would seem that MQ would be an extra layer.

Did you do any research on CICS+MQ on google?
Simply answered: if you have CICS applications, and you also use WMQ applications, and you want to drive a cics transaction when a message arrives on a queue... _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

I should have clarified.
We wouldn't be triggering a CICS transaction. Basically, we want to just retrieve information from our mainframe using webservices. So the question is, setup CICS webservices and have our .NET application go directly against that or have web services setup in MQ.
If I understood what I read and CICS can have web services setup, then why use MQ? |
