Hi,

I am configuring on 2 AIX boxes with MQ 7.0.1.1 with MQ multi instance with one QueueManager one each server each connected to a SAN storage

Since I have 2 Queue managers, on server one QM1 is using 1414 and on server 2 QM2 is using port 1415 so that if QM1 fails over to server2 there will not be any port conflict.

I have tested the failover and it failes over between both the servers using the commands endmqm -s QM1 and strmqm -x QM1.

Now my question is if an external client wants to connnect to this set up
If I provide server1 IP, QM1, port 1414 how it will be managed by MQ after a failover and any tools available to test this activity as this multi instance QM is new to me

appreciate your feedback

It won't.

Your client would have to use the v7 client facilities or something similar to reconnect to port 1415 after failover.

If you want to present the same port after failover you'll need to use dedicated HA software (Veritas or similar) to manage the port.

MQ does not do IP level failover.

You must provide both addresses for QM1 to the client. Then MQ will know how to use both addresses.

This is as documented.
