Hi,
We have a customer, which planned a iSeries upgrade from V5R4 to V6R1. Currently he has still MQ 5.3 on his server.
He obviously needs to upgrade MQ. I am wondering what you think about my thoughts and questions:
I would suggest to do the following:
1. Migrate MQ 5.3 to MQ 7.0 on the current system first
2. Test MQ and all applications around it
3. Upgrade the OS
4. Do the usual tests after such an OS migration
Is it a problem to go directly from 5.3 to 7.0? Are there known problems with keeping QMs, Qs, Messages over the migration?
Thanks for your suggestions! |

No.
You'll find a specific section in the iSeries doc on migrating from earlier versions, including a section on a side-by-side install which your customer may find comforting during the v7 testing. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Can you do that on iSeries? I thought it was zOS only?
If so, cool. |

The book says you can. I've no idea. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
