As part of an investigation into an issue with characters not being converted correctly, I need to see the CCSID that was used when a message was put onto a queue. The problem is that the CCSID value shown to me by MQMON is the CCSID used to get the message. This is demonstrated by the fact that when I change MQMON's browse CCSID, a different value is shown in the message descriptor CCSID. Is there any way to see which CCSID was used when the message was put?

Thanks.

What happens when you use amqsbcg to display the message?

It showed the original CCSID using ISPF panels to browse the message.

Maybe original CCSID will be provided with a future version of MQMON?
It would be useful when dealing with translation issues.

On the message list windows, right before opening a single message, right-click on the message and in the context menue there is a "convert" option. if that is not ticked then you should see the message with the original ccsid.

worked for me. unticked i see CCSID 273 (z/OS), ticked i see CCSID 437 (runningMQMON on Windows Windows)

Make sure you are using a recent version of MO71 as well.

Did you turn off the convert option on MQMON?
