Hi All
What is the best way to reset/kill all channel connections and restart channel... MQ 6.0.2.4 on Unix.
I've been trying following but taking quite some time and still I see available(running) connections,...
Thx
echo "stop chl(XXX.SVRCONN) mode(TERMINATE) status(INACTIVE)" |runmqsc QM1
echo "stop chl(XXX.SVRCONN) mode(FORCE) status(INACTIVE)" |runmqsc QM1 |

Restarting the qmgr will do this.
Why do you want to kill all your channels? _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

do not wanna re-start queue manager since there are other chanels.
Just this spesific channel and all of their connections....Kill all channel connections and ahve them remake conns.
reason: they are making too many connections
( I do not know if there is a way from MQ side to limit number of their channel connections from spesific IP etc..
again this is in WMQ 6.0.2.4 in unix)
thx |

Sorry. I took you literally in your OP.
V7 allows you to configure max connection instances. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

If you can avoid using mode TERMINATE as it has some side effects on other channels. Mode FORCE should do it for you. _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

Tried that too...
taking some time and when I monitor number of running channel connections during stop process
the number of available chl conns for spesific channel sometimes going up...
is it because of new connections being established during stop channel process? |

Shotgunning commands has likely driven the qmgr in to confused state. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

What do you see when you check the status of the server conn channels ?
Do you got the facility to connect the unix qmgr remotely from mq explorer and check 'Application Connections', who are connecting, how many threads they got.. etc. ?
When I did face this kind of issue, my mq was v6.0.2.0 couple of years ago and that was the problem cause of POOLSCAVENGER. We moved to the version 6.1.0.0 and it was not happening again.
By the way as fjb_saper said, FORCE does the work most of the times. _________________ *Life will beat you down, you need to decide to fight back or leave it. |
