Please help!
Hastily applied changes to our prod environment have had no capacity planning, and this has resulted in a number of large files of over 2 GB on both UNIX and Windows systems. Some of these messages need to be recovered. The broken files have been removed and retained.
Does anyone have any experience or ideas in recovering messages from 2GB+ files? |

Well, have looked into it. I have found anecdotal evidence (not yet confirmed) that as at v5.3, MQ is already capable of accessing files of up to 2TB. Certainly this is so of v6 on. So simply removing the file system limitation is what is required.
JFS these days, I am told, is capable of large file support - it just needs to be enabled. JFS2 is of course already capable of large file support. If large file support is enabled and a limit is still being hit, it is likely to be the user's ulimit, in my case 4194302 blocks - 2GB. |
