We had a discussion last year about how to run QPasa agents on an HA cluster.
http://www.mqseries.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=45487

I've come around to the idea that the QPasa agent processes should be queue manager service objects so that they stop and start when the queue manager does. (I surrender, Peter.)

Our current plan will have a Veritas resource group that houses six queue managers. If one queue manager goes, the whole group will failover (together with their matching brokers).

Because all six will failover in a single resource group, it seems to me that I need to define QPasa processes as objects on only one of the six queue managers.

Thoughts? Thanks!

That's a *big* resource group.

But you're right, you would only need a service in one qmgr.

Yeah, all those QMs in one group is kinda ugly. One of them hiccups and now all 6 failover. But what are you going to do? That's the price you pay for having 6 QMs on one server to begin with. Can't you drop that down to one and combine all the queues and client channels?

Alas, we inherited once cluster f*** (pun intended) like this ourselves and that's what we did. The most "important" QM, the one least likely to be recycled, is the one that houses the QPASA Service.

The QPASA as a QM Service is how we handle it on Unix only. On Windows we make the 3 QPASA agents actual resources in the MSCS cluster group.

What do you mean with slower? They now can grab oil from the beaches to grease all those wheels.
