Hi,
Is anyone aware of a tool that can be used to produce documentation of the MQArchitecture? We have a variety of platforms, mainframe, UNIX, Windows NT/2000, AS/400. I am interested in what other companies use to document their MQ Architecture. Thanks in advance.

Hi Kp,
Thanks for your response. We have these. My boss was looking for something more automated that could produce the charts.

I believe Bristol had a product that would do that. They changed the product name around but I think it's called Transaction Vision now.
they're on www.bristol.com
They way it works is that there is a front-end to the MQ API which Bristol supplies, (like the 5.3 API crossing exit thingie) which records the contents of your message. The product then hooks up to other machines at your site, and than it is possible to track the path of your message. This will give you your topology.
I don't think it is clever enough to ativately seek out all remote queue/sender channel/receiver channel/local queue set ups, and produce a diagram. This seems the "Holy Grail" of management products. We've asked BMC (and I'm sure we're not the only ones) for something like this, but no sign of it as yet.

Thanks! We are just starting a pilot with Transaction Vision in our company. I agree with you though I don't think it will do any automated charting or documentation.
