After installing WMQ V7 on top of V6 I try to restore V6 again.

Unfortunately i forgot to backup "equivalent Registry entries" on Windows.

Any hope that the information is in WMQ directory backup and there is a way to recreate it ?

( create the manager again and change InstanceID ... )

/Torben

You might be able to do a compare-and-contrast with another V6.0 set-up and 'recover' the Registry settings, but the issue is the changes made by the upgrade to the queue manager structures - the queue manager will not restart. I do hope you used MS03 and recorded other necessary settings/parameters

The senerie is this:
1. Have a WMQ v6 , Stop the mqmanger , take a backup ,
2. Install WMQ V7 , Start Mq manager , Check that all is ok
3. Uninstall WMQ v7
4. Reinstall WMQ v6
5. Restore backup and start the manager ..

This is a test that the backup accualy works.. But as i told . we forgot to backup the windows registration ...

A lesson learned the hard way - therefore one that will unlikely be made again

A stated, if you have another WMQ V6.0 system that is a 'mirror' of what you had, compare and contrast the Registries, but caveat emptor...

why are you using amqmdain in preference to strmqm?

windows...!

Remember if you ever had the qmgr started under V7 you will need to restore the data and log files to the V6 level before starting the qmgr under V6.

Have fun

The command amqmdain qmgr start is from MQ Explore.. amqmdain qmgr start.
I have restored all the MQ data, MQ log files and the windows reg file . HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\MQSeries

5 errors wiht "An internal WebSphere MQ error has occurred " is in the AMQERR01.log when starting the manager from MQ Explore.

It was an accces problem ..
I run AMQMJPSE -r to reset user id
run amqmsrvn -user .... with the user that created the mq manager .
Restart the server and mq explore can start the manager again ..

Is this correct or have i missed some thing in my restore ?
