Apparently QMGR ALIASes are useful only for binding and distributed queueing connection scenarios. I attempted to use MO71 and q.exe to client connect to a qmgr alias and of course no dice. The info centers neglect to mention that client connections cannot use aliases (MO71 requires a qmgr name, q.exe -m parameter specifies qmgr name). Could you confirm that this is the case? (not an RTFM as the manual neglects to mention it).

QALIASes are only resolved during name resolution, which does not happen during MQCONN/MQCONNX, as you're not connected yet.

If you want to connect using "MYQM" when you actually have MYQM1, MYQM2, MYQM3, etc... you should look at client connection tables.
