Hi,
On our setup we have MQ ver 6.0 on windows servers and we have found that the on the MQ Client side the connection to the MQ Server is being dropped. When I initially start up the app the connection is fine and the client is picking up the msgs from the queues and then suddenly after say 5mins it comes up with this error:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
29/03/2010 16:26:59 - Process(3980.3) User(Administrator) Program(QMQ.exe)
AMQ9202: Remote host 'APPUAT (192.168.7.79) (1415)' not available, retry later.
EXPLANATION:
The attempt to allocate a conversation using TCP/IP to host 'APPUAT
(192.168.7.79) (1415)' was not successful. However the error may be a
transitory one and it may be possible to successfully allocate a TCP/IP
conversation later.
ACTION:
Try the connection again later. If the failure persists, record the error
values and contact your systems administrator. The return code from TCP/IP is
10060 (X'274C'). The reason for the failure may be that this host cannot reach
the destination host. It may also be possible that the listening program at
host 'APPUAT (192.168.7.79) (1415)' was not running. If this is the case,
perform the relevant operations to start the TCP/IP listening program, and try
again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The time after which the connection is lost is random, sometimes it is after 30mins and sometimes 5-10mins. And the connection is not idle it is picking up msgs and then suddenly stops. And I have also checked and there is no firewall and there are no error msgs on the MQ Server side and the listener is running fine.
I'm at a loss as to what is happening and would really appreciate any help or suggestions you guys might have.
Take care and have a wonderful day

Have you taken that TCP/IP error code to the network administrator as suggested in the text of the message? Mr Google says it's a timeout so it sounds to me like you've an intermittant problem with response time. Or a firewall you've not noticed that doesn't always detect active connections properly. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Hi,
Yeah I've taken it to the network administrator here and they swear blind it's not a network issue and they also swear blind there is no firewall on the network.
Not sure what else to check...
Thank you for your time |

They always do that. Trust me. There's never any network issue, never a firewall, never been a change in any configuration.
Except after much patient (or in my case impatient) prodding they finally come up with something like "oh, well, there's that dodgy router / firewall / DNS change, but that couldn't possible affect you or cause that sort of problem", and yet the problem miraculously disappears when they fix it.
There's nothing else you can check. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

OK, cool I'll go back to them and see if they can find anything and tell them that an MQ Guru said that it must be at their side...
Thank you for your help.
