Hi,
Can someone please tell me in which order I should read MQ6.0 manuals for zOS system from an MQ admin perspective. |

the manuals go hand in hand, if you read the one miss something you have to look into one of the others.
however, i' would start with the comcepts and planning, intercommunication / system setup (or in the reverse order, but i prefer to know what i am setting up), system administration, security, problem determination. do not forget the non-plattform-specific manuals, like the application programmers guide and the application programmers reference which you should read too., and there is clustering, there is monitoring, there is script and command reference, and some more which may not be that important in the beginning, but which you should consume too.
as mq on z/OS may have connections to mq on distributed plattforms, it is sometimes good to know a little about these plattforms, so i recommend you read some of the quick beginnings and non-zos system administration guide.
or - in brief - read them all
i hope you are familiar with z/OS, if not there is much, much more to read. _________________ Regards, Butcher |

The 80-20 rule applies here. 80 percent of what yiou learn about MQ is applicable to MQ on all platforms; while on z/OS, 20 percent of MQ is very different.
z/OS itself is 80 different from the midrange platforms, and 20 percent the same. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Thanks a lot both of you.
In zOS , I only know JCL and primary TSO, MVS commands. However, I glanced in manuals for zOS with MQ and there are CICS, IMS mentioned. Do I need to learn CICS and ims too ?
Please let me know any online tutorial which can help me learn these two. |

If you have MQ aware applications using either of these environments you need to know them or have access to someone who does. In the same way you need RACF knowledge for MQ's TSO & batch functions; you must either have knowledge (& access) yourself or have access to someone who does. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
