Attempting to install MQ5.3 on Win2K Pro, SP3. Currently running MQ5.2, MQSI 2.1 and MQEveryplace with MA88 support pac. I get the following error, "SupportPac MC74 (Microsoft Cluster Server Support) is installed on this system. You must uninstall the SupportPac before installing WebSphere MQServer; see the Installation Guide. (AMQ4753)" At this point you can only exit the install program. The problem is this is a notebook PC, my workstation and sandbox. I don't have MC74 installed. It's not listed in services. I can't find any reference to it on the system, but the MQ install program thinks it's there. Any ideas? |

This is a bug in the install package. It may fail if there are any SupportPacs installed. Give this a try:
From a command prompt, make the root directory of the CD the current path and directory and enter MQPARMS AMQCHECKMSCS="". Then rerun the install.

Charlie you're probably on to something. As it was I uninstalled MQ5.2 and the WMQ5.3 install ran successfully. I thought I read in the install guide (after the fact) that you should uninstall all CSD's, but I went back to verify this and couldn't find the text. So it's possible had I followed the install guide and uninstalled the CSD first, the 5.3 install would have ran without a hitch. I did notice in the What's New section of Quick Beginnings a statement that "WebSphere MQ now contains components that provide MSCS support that were previously shipped in SupportPac MC74." Odd that the install program saw MC74 while it was going to install components of MC74. Something may be amiss with the install program. Thanks for your help!
