Hi!

Running WMB 6.1.0.5 and WMQ 7.0.0.1 on HP serviceguard.

Earlier i defined Qmanagers etc using the MC91 SupportPack with a little modifications to suit me..

However now i have found out that the MC91 SupportPack has been whitdrawn.

See:
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg24011869

"The main function is now included in the main WebSphere MQ V7.0.1.0 product."

Ok fine and good!
But i havent found the documentation how to for example create a Qmanager in the main WebSphere MQ product for HA(ServiceGuard in my case).

Have you?

Best Regards!

The "main" function has, but not all the function.
If you need a VIP to support failover for non 7.0.1 MQ Clients and QMs connecting to your QM, if you need to fail other resources over with your QM, you still have to use the MC91 concepts.

If you decide the new MQ 7.0.1 Multi Instance QMs can do it for you, then you don't need a hardware clustering package for the QM to be Highly Available.

Hmm in not talking about some kind of LB or failover for VIP or clients,
Im running 1 Broker with 1 Qmanager on a "logical device" that i can move between 2 physical servers...The DNS or IP if you want are always fixed.

All i want to know is how to create a WMQ Qmanager in WMQ 7.0.0.1 not using the MC91 SP.

No plans for this now...

Nothing sends data to this server via MQ?

You have 2 servers with the same DNS name and the same IP address?

The crtmqm command? If you need to run your QM under a hardware clustering solution you have to use MC91, or at least the concepts it provides.

I do not understand why IBM withdrew that Support Pack. Its too soon. But they couldn't wait. The day Multi Instance QMs were formally announced was the day the Support Pack was withdrawn. The problem is the new MI QMs do not fully replace the functionailty of traditional H.A. solutions, especially for installations where every incoming client connection or QM connection is not already at MQ 7.0.1 itself.

Hear, hear! Luckily, it is still available in the archive but labelled 'do not use for new installations' - you just have to love 'em

Yes of course.

Hehe you are not familiar with HP ServiceGuard?
The QM is attached to an "clusterpackage" and this is where the ip-adress is mounted.

crtmqm, maybe? I dont know this is why i asked how to do this now when the SP is withdrawn.
Creating a qmanager with MC91 did alot of other stuff then just "crtmqm".

To use MQ in a HA ServiceGuard package you still need MC91, get from the "archive" here: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27007149
