please be more specific in your question, there are lots of articles about clustering both MQ and Hardware clustering on mqseries.net _________________ Michael

There are always limitations in any software and hardware. For example, I/O devices have practical limits on data throughput and latency.
What are your requirements? |

Sorry for misunderstanding. I specifically would like to know :
1. How Passive MQ detect the status of active instance ? Via connection failure or/and heart beat failure ?
2. Does MQ cluster limit the number of hops for a queue message ? For example, the MQ connect is MQ1 to MQ2 to MQ3 and then MQ4. Can we publish message to MQ1 and then receive the message from MQ4 ?
3. Can MQ client decide to connect to any of specific instance from MQ cluster by either number of currect client connections or the number of received messages ?
4. Pub/Sub is new in MQ7. Any Pub/Sub limination within MQ Cluster ...
Thanks... |

As has been discussed many times on this forum, WMQ clustering is not an HA solution and has no concept of Active/Passive. Each queue manager in a WMQ cluster is distinct and unique. But might be coincidentally protected by an HA solution.

MQ Clusters don't use hops - each member is directly connected to each other member. Try reading the Clusters manual.

An MQ client can connect to any queue manager it want. The rest of your questions are nonsensical. How can a client know anything about a queue manager unless it connects? Why would a client want to connect in such a manner?

No it isn't. It just got updated a lot.

Such as? If you persist in asking open ended questions you'll keep getting open ended answers.
You really, really need to spend more time reading the documentation. And possibly review your design. This concept of "connecting by number of messages received" is odd and slightly alarming. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
