We have 17 queue managers in our productions environment. Among the 17, 6 of them work as
gateway - where the client applicaitons connect and a messages and wait for the reply. These queue
managers hold local queue for a reply (replyToQueue) and cluster queues for putting messages.
Just for clarity, the 11 remaing queue manages are divided in 4 groups(5,3,2,1) based on the
functinality. This also means the number of cluster queues instances in gateway queue managers
vary- some queue have 5 instances, some have 3, some have 2 and sone have only one instance.
There are about 13000 clients running about 15 applications. These clients currently connect
to these gateway queue managers using a single server connection channel.
We want to introduce SSL connection to some of the appllications.
For example, lets assume we want to use ssl connection to only one appplicaiton. Lets say we have same server/client connection
channel created in all 6 queue maangers. Also, lets us suppose that the queue manager field is
left blank in channel deinition. That contact admin that the ccdt in all queue managers are similar. So, any
one of the ccdt can be copied over to the clients.
Proboem/Questions How can we make sure that the connection to be load balanced? How the applicaiton can choose different queue manager when they connect?
FYI, at present, the load balancing logic is inside the code. A queue manager is chosen randomly. Thus over the 13000 clients, the random selection seems be load balanced. Although selection in one client is not known to the other cient. |

Migrate to Version 7.0.1 and research client channel weight (CLNTWGHT)... _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |
