Hello,
I am going to be performing an installation of MQ v7 (actually, an upgrade from v6 to v7.0.1) on a nice z/OS 1.10 platform.
We are planning to install the Early Code, which from all the research that has been performed requires an IPL of the system.
My question is that going from the Early Code to the Full Release code, is there an IPL required? Currently we have the upgrade scheduled for outage periods to minimize impact and anything that could potentially try to talk to MQ.
Thanks! |

Early code is installed once in LPA, and is pervasive for all qmgrs in the z/OS image.
If you are running (or intend to run) multiple versions of WMQ, the early code needs to be at the highest level. So, if you are running WMQ v6, and want to install and test v7, you need to first upgrade the early code to v7. Both WMQ v6 and v7 will run with v7 early code.
This is nicely documented in the WMQ for z/OS System Setup Guide. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.
