Hi,
Can anyone tell me what the maximum number of queue managers you can have on a single server? I am looking to implement 20 queue managers on the same AIX box and I vaguely remember there being a limit on older versions of MQ.
I am using MQ5.3 sp14 on AIX 5.3.
Unfortunately I cannot upgrade MQ as this is the version that the software supplier has signed off and they're sticking to it |

No limit as long as enough disk space and CPU and memory is available for QM and its processes to run smoothly... _________________ Cheers |

but this is not supported by IBM... what if you run into some critical issue or production or even pre Prod box.... its been more then 2 years since 5.3 went out of support.... _________________ Cheers |

I know. I have told them this but they are resolutely stuck on 5.3 and unlikely to want to move for some time.
Thanks for the response. |

Time to look for a new software supplier then?
Seriously though, if I were dependent upon a supplier that was not updating their product to support new version of the OS & Other key components many alarm bells would start ringing.
Is this application still under development?
etc
etc
etc
If you don't get any decent answers, it might be time to look for another job. _________________ WMQ User since 1999

Aside from the valid comments of my associates, be sure you have the kernel settings correct.
I don't think there's a specific limit on the number of queue managers, but getting multiple queue managers to run can be an issue. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
