Successfully installed MQ Fix pack 6.0.2.6 on my dev servers (running under mscs) - was using V6.0.2.2. Restarted IBM MQSeries Service and MQ is running at V6.0.2.6.
Did the same install on my prod servers (running under mscs), and installation on prod servers appeared to successful. Restarted IBM MQSeries Service. But MQ is still running at V6.0.2.2. \Program Files\IBM\WebSphere MQ\bin was updated with V6.0.2.6 and Start\All Programs\IBM WebSphere MQ\Remove Fix Pack 6.0.2.6 option is available. Checked windows registry and V6.0.2.6 is also updated.
Not sure why the prod server is running the old version. Any suggestion or advice will be appreciated. |

My knowledge of MCSC is limited, but is it possible that one of the prod servers isn't at the right version & MCSC has failed over to it? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Both servers are at the same old version and it did not failover. IBM has recommended an unistall and re-install of V6.0.2.6. My concern is that the uninstall might cause further damage because of the initial install problem. |

It's not quite clear, but.
Did you try restarting the boxes? More things may have been "in use" when you did the install and that may mean that the install is not quite complete. |

mqjeff was right. I restarted the servers (after the monthly microsoft patching) and the new version was executed. IBM's instructions on applying fixpack did not mention a reboot was required. Thanks everyone. |

They probably assume that, as it's Windows, a reboot will be carried out regardless
I don't know if you specified MQPINUSEOK (in which case the manual states that a reboot is required) in conjunction with suppressing the reboot? _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

In general, a fixpack install on Windows only requires a restart if you haven't managed to close *everything* that could be using the MQ dlls.
This means all your applications, all of WMQ's processes, including the little task bar control and the Windows Service itself, and anything that MSCS may be using to monitor the queue manager...
It's generally easier to reboot. |
