Hi,
I have a .NET Framework already installed on my machine. I want to start using/writing MQ.NET programs. What are the steps/installations I have to do? Also, how/where can I get the installations?
Would it be sufficient for me to just add amqmdnet.dll and amqmdxcs.dll?
OR Do I need CSD 5? What is CSD 5 and how/where can I get this?
I appreciate for your answers. Thanks |

Clients are free downloads. If you want anything else, contact your IBM sales rep.

No.

If you don't know that, you shouldn't be using WMQ. Certainly you should have had a look at the Using .NET manual before starting this. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

I believe this site is to find out minimum of things to gain knowledge.
When you say "If you don't know that, you shouldn't be using WMQ. Certainly you should have had a look at the Using .NET manual before starting this".
Yes, I have did my part of reading and I am looking at some help from this site as to installation details. As to how can I get CSD and is it reqd to start MQ programming using .NET.
"Clients are free downloads. If you want anything else, contact your IBM sales rep. "
Provide me link please as to where are free downloads. I do not have any sales representative. If I have one, I would not have posted here.
From this post, I am trying to find Installation details, if available how to get one? Thanks |

Not sure what reading you have done! At the top of this page, click the Info Center link. This is the complete library of documentation for MQ. The "Quick Beginnings" books give installation instructions. Review the section for MQ Client for your platform, then you will be in a better position to ask questions.
There is also a manual for .NET.
The link above for SupportPacs will be helpful in locating client installation files. |

You (in the terms of your site) must have purchased a licensed copy of WMQ or you won't be able to connect your .NET application to anything; the queue manager software is not a free download. Hence there is access to an IBM sales rep via some means. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

There is however I believe a 90 days trial version of the qmgr software that you can download. Look at the IBM site under WebSphere MQ for that. _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

A more generic answer: visit www.ibm.com/mqseries.
Down the left side are clickables that include Library. Library will take you to a page with tabs for the documentation for different versions of mq. The Quick Beginnings manuals are a great place to start.
Some manuals are platform-specific; some are platform-neutral. System Administration manuals and .NET manuals are included.
http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redbooks/pdfs/sg247128.pdf will take you to WMQ V6 Fundamentals. While it is V6-specific, it provides a wonderful grounding on things MQ _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.
