Trying to find the Linux rpm module installation dependency order for MQ installs/uninstalls.
Keep having to figure it out ... need to save it ... but would be nice if it was actually in an IBM MQ Linux manual ... thought I saw it once maybe in a read me but can't find again.
Did find this on the web ... will check to see if correct ... would be a nice item to incorporate in some IBM manual...

Take a look at the WMQ Quick Beginnings manual. It contains the rpm commands to issue to do the install. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

I did ... it only gives a sample rpm -ivh command
If one does a complete install runtime, java, sdk, keyman, server, ...
The order you do the multiple rpm -ivh commands becomes important or you bump into dependency errors.
The hyper-link is example of someone solving the issue in v6 MQ..
I don't believe a complete list is given in QB manual, I did not see it.

just run them all in one rpm command, and rpm will sort out all the dependencies for you.
certainly doing:
rpm -ivh *.rpm
in the directory containing all the rpm's you wish to install will simply install the lot in the correct order and rid you of dependency worries.
edit: remove yum comment because I've tested it and it doesn't work _________________ Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. |

I believe I did that once when first using Linux and MQ just to see what would happen and thought, WOW! this is mad easy!! How cool!!
Then it didn't work or something went wrong the next time I tried it.
I then thought perhaps the wild card didn't do something correctly ... it seemed too easy I guess.
But if it will work and sort the dependencies out with an rpm -ivh *.rpm why wouldn't the doco say that some where.
I will try again ... too see

I received a post reply on this item days ago now but when I went to see it via link ... it errored saying no such item or the like.
Just thought I would try again to see if it was transient issue ... I can get to this item now(obviously) but ... nothing new added ???
Just wondering what might have happened ?

Then there are there are the different National Language rpm's.
MQSeriesMSG*
These are optional and one or more can be installed once the core WMQ rpm's have been installed.
I normally delete the language packs I don't want than then install the whole lot in one go using
rpm -Uvh *.rpm.
I use '-U' because the same command will can be used on the fixpacks. _________________ WMQ User since 1999
