Hi,

I am very new to the MQ developement. I am trying to setup the environment to write the java standalone application.

My questions are
1) I have MQ server 5.3 on HP-UX server, now can I write the java application in my windows machine to connect to MQ server? For that is it MQ client neccessary to be installed in my windows machine? or are there any jar files available and which are enough?

2) Websphere MQ client is free or does it cost for licences?

3) Can I can connect to MQ server 5.3 from client 6.0?

Please help me to setup the environment.

Thanks in advance,
Prasanna

Yes. Note that WMQv5.3 is out of support and you should update.

If you're new to WMQ you should install the entire client. If you want to just put some jar files in, you should review the discussions in this forum regarding what you need, how to set them up and what may happen if you go down this road.

The client is free, the server is not.

Yes, but obviously the v6 client features will not be supported by the server.

The Client & Java manuals will tell you everything you need to know.
