Hey,

I have an odd little conundrum on my hands. A station connects using XMS client to a QM on another machine, but the connect() call takes over two minutes to complete (successfully, no error codes or log entries).
Now the real kicker is that amqsputc.exe takes just a few seconds from the same machine, using the same channel and settings (with MQSERVER var, no SSL).

Both QM and client aren't particularly busy nor hanged, as MQ Explorer works just fine. This started happening when we migrated clients and servers from V6 to V7. We haven't been able to solve it since.

Obviously a PMR has been opened, but I'm trying to work out ways for a solution in parallel. Any ideas of what could cause a connection to take so long?

Thanks!
H

You're not the first one to observe that a client connection in XMS seems to take forever. The PRM is the quickest way to find relief.

Is that the new style PMR for dyslexic customers?

Sorry meant PMR of course...
That's what you get when the fingers type faster than the eyes want to follow.

Quickest? Oh dear. Last PMR I opened (which ended with IBM issuing an interim fix) took almost three months to be resolved.

What I didn't mention is that after about a week of working with two-minute-long connections in production, the whole system grinds to a screeching halt. All calls hang on connect() until you delete and recreate the QM.
Well, I guess no dice with this post. Can't complain, I have no idea how to solve this one either

Cheers!
