We are running an MS Windows 2000 2-node Clustered Server managed by the MS Clustering Services software.
On this environment we have multiple virtual servers installed. In addition we have installed MQSeries as well as the MC74 SupportPac that is supposed to make the Queue Managers cluster aware.
In testing with a single Queue Manager we were able to fail over the queues and Queue Manager as designed. It was impressive to watch it work.
Our difficulties began when we created multiple QMs (one for each virtual server). It appears that each QM by default listens on ALL IP addresses associated with the physical node. Since the QMs are configured for port 1414 this is obviously a problem. We would like to bind the QMs to the IP associated with their virtual server.
We have hoped that the MC74 SupportPac would allow us to bind the QM addressing to the IP address of the virtual server hosting the QM. We have been unable to find any documentation or discussions stating how to bind the IP address in a Windows environment (there is no inet configuration files like you have under *NIX).
If we can not bind to a single IP address, we will be forced to use alternate ports for each QM. This is doable, but defeats one of the major reasons for moving to this clustered environment.
Any suggestions or guidance form those already running the MC74 SupportPac would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
